Works
I have created and produced several works of my own, including being commissioned to create a work in Cyprus with MITRA Dance Theatre Company. I also teach one on one or group choreographic workshops, most recently this was to lead a workshop for Middlesex University. I have also worked as a movement director for dancers and non dancers. I have especially enjoyed creating work for 22 member feminist choir, GAGGLE, which involved staging them at ‘WOW: Women of the World’ festival at the Southbank Centre. I am also a performer myself; appearing in my own work and on other projects.
What drives me as a creative maker is the audience experience, my work is based in dance and movement, it is theatrical and has a good sense of humour. It has been described as surreal and playful, I generally like to knock down the fourth wall, to allow the audience to have a more tangible experience. The themes and movement are often rooted in personal experience, influenced by the cultural aspects of being a Ukrainian - Irish woman living in London. I’m interested in meta-modernism and enjoy collaborating with a team, investigating our shared collective experience versus our individualism. I try not to make statements but allow the space in between, the question and the answer to be stretched in to a narrative for the audience to play in.
One of my most notable works was the sexy, awkward and comical production ‘PIGS’, a black comedy dance-theatre exploration of power, revolt and sexuality - and sentient pigs. Mixing dance, live art, sci-fi and a stripper pole, it is an immersive piece with the audience choosing their position within the power-play, only to find themselves undermined, empowered or confused. Music created by Mr. Squishy, voice-overs recorded by David Quantick and Richard Herring and script by Geoff Deane.
Here’s a selection of further works that I’ve produced.
